The seventies: Diversity, monsters, fashion and living the life.
The decade of self expression, excess and virtuosity; as the musicians became the story and a huge variety of musical styles were explored. A decade of looking inward and believing whatever came out. A decade where the world first started to slow economically but no one noticed until towards the end of the decade and three very different new challengers emerged.

T. Rex Complete Concert - Wembley 8.30pm 18/3/1972
I have always loved the idea of 'Marc Bolan', the gorgeous pout, the flamboyant arrogance, the Rock Star Style but I always thought he was a bit of a charlatan. This concert shows Bolan and T Rex at their height, the heights that inspired others and made me a believer. Now I understand the boys; not only wrote a good song and struck a good pose they could also play.
59:35 one of three Channel Four documentaries covering the punk period in the UK. This episode covers the years 1976 to 1978 (when the Pistols quit) - and the original Punks became mainstreamed. It was still a dynamic and innnovative movement which changed the sound and attitude of music. In its best moments Punk included a broad range of styles with only the do it yourself ethos to bind them together.
The Joy of Disco 59:31

With contributions from Nile Rogers, Robin Gibb, Kathy Sledge and Ian Schrager.
