Open Culture say they have 625 films to watch free online. The collection is divided into several sub genre categories. I didn't count them but there are plenty and presented as a Looong list. Quality varies and most are old Hollywood.
Flavorwire offer 50 more thanks to our old friend “the public domain,” whereby films whose copyright has lapsed (or never existed in the first place) can be made available for public consumption. Others are hosted gratis by services that simply want to share the wealth of great cinema. Well presented site with embedded clips.
Top Documentary Films has a vast range of doumentaries on social issues for your delectation. Quality is sacrificed for quality but there are many good films to enjoy.
